Studies the iconography and inscriptions of the lunette fresco with Julius Caesar, Constantine the Great, and Noah and the related figure of Janus, from the 15th c. series of uomini famosi in the Sala del Consiglio of the Palazzo del Comune, Lucignano; concludes that while they represent respectively pagan antiquity, Christian history, Hebrew history, and the first king of Rome, their overall meaning has to do with the founding of Rome and the significance that Dante assigned to Rome as the beginning of civiltas and the origin of Italy.
