Abstract (en)

Attributes to Raphael a pen and ink drawing of Noah's Thanksgiving after the Flood (Stockholm, Nationalmuseum) and identifies it as a study for the Stanza d'Eliodoro. Argues that the drawing shows Raphael's indebtedness to Michelangelo's Sistine ceiling. Concludes that the drawing, and consequently the Stanza ceiling frescoes, therefore postdate October 1512 when Michelangelo's ceiling was unveiled.
