On Vivenel, his activities as patron and collector (including portraits of him in various media), and his development from 1840 of the Musée Vivenel in Compiègne which was conceived of as a comprehensive small museum with a practical educational orientation. Discusses Viollet-le-Duc's 1863 renovation of the premises.
