Abstract (en)

Summarizes a recently discovered cache of 38 documents 1746-1819 relating to the collection of machines, tools, models and drawings left by inventor Vaucanson in the Hôtel de Mortagne, Paris, at the time of his death in 1782. The collection was maintained as a museum until 1796 when it was appropriated by the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Paris).
