Discusses the woven French and Latin inscriptions found on a series of tapestries made in Brussels ca.1510. The tapestries (most of which survive in British collections) represent triumphal processions of the seven "powers", and take their subject from Petrarch's allegorical poem I trionfi. Shows that the inscriptions derive from Jean II Robertet's verse descriptions of Petrarch's poem.
