Abstract (en)

Draws attention to and cites cases of problems of importation and legal ownership of art works and objects acquired or stolen in Latin America; suggests that most problems are due to ignorance of rules applicable to the international movement of art; and sets forth guidelines to help prevent the dealer or collector from running afoul of U.S. Customs regulations and foreign patrimony laws.
