Survey of the early use of photography to record or reproduce works of art; gives the background of the publication of a photographically illustrated set of the Reports by the juries of the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London; and discusses early publications, commercial outlets, the role of print dealers, photographically illustrated books, and the technical processes involved in printing these.
