Abstract (en)
On the significance and sources of the three sets of bees on the tomb of Urban VIII (Rome, Vatican, S. Peter's); proposes that the small bees are meant to suggest the odor of sanctity, while the sources for the large Barbarini bees are Rubens's title page of the Poemata of Urban VIII as well as contemporary prints recording microscopic images of bees.
