Praises the Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte, Dortmund, for lending their version of Caspar David Friedrich's Winter Landscape (1811) to the National Gallery, London. The National Gallery wished to exhibit the Dortmund picture alongside their own version of the composition, purchased in 1987. Demonstrates that the London picture is in fact the original; the inverse had been supposed to be true.
