Discusses 14 majolica plaques decorated by Francesco Xanto Avelli ca.1536, three with subjects from the Trojan War and 11 with subjects from Persian history. Considers Xanto's literary and visual sources as well as evidence that the plaques were elements in now dispersed cycles.
