A traveling retrospective exhibition of Bluemner's paintings, watercolors and drawings, shown first at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC (19 Dec 1988-19 Feb 1989), inspired this essay on the artist's life, work, and lifelong commitment to explore the expressive potential of color.
