Peasant motifs before and after Malevich's Suprematist period are concerned with philosophical and aesthetic, not ethnographic or anthropological, issues. The avant-garde concept of the "new man" and the perfectibility of the human body was based on the image of the peasant and survived in the robust figures of Social Realism in the 1930s.
