Abstract (en)

Chronicles plans to rebuild the center of the city of Potsdam to reflect the new socialist order, 1958-1983. Focuses on the changing conception of a monument to commemorate the socialist hero, Karl Liebknecht, and its ultimate realization in a sculpture in the shape of a flame by Theo Balden, part of the the Karl-Liebknecht-Forum, which also includes a concrete pergola, and mosaic and text wall by Kurt-Hermann Kühn.
