Overview of controversy surrounding ownership of the Sevso Treasure, a hoard of 3d-5th c. Late Antique silver of undetermined origin. The Marquess of Northampton, who has had possession of the 14 known pieces since the 1980s, wishes to sell them at Sotheby's Zurich in autumn 1990. However, both Lebanon and Yugoslavia have challenged his right of ownership. The case is scheduled to be taken up in the American courts.
