Abstract (en)

Describes a chapman's textile pattern book with 498 mounted samples of late 18th c. Kendal cloth (Kendal, Town Hall). The book is important for the many ordinary fabrics preserved in it. Presents results of conservation work carried out 1987-1988. Selected samples were subjected to scientific analysis including tests to determine fibers, dyes and mordants.
