Discusses Cézanne's landscape painting, Les maisons provençales, ca.1880 (Washington, National Gallery of Art). States that the subject, a complex of houses in the valley of Riaux, near L'Estaque, was at the time thought to be the birthplace of Pierre Puget. Notes Cézanne's interest in the 17th c. sculptor's work.
