Abstract (en)
On the basis of two letters to Delacroix of Nov and Dec 1823, establishes the address of his studio as No 16 rue des Grès (rue Cujas since 1865). Identifies this address as part of the deconsecrated chapel of the then-closed Dominican monastery known as the Couvent des Jacobins (demolished 1800-1849). The chapel lay on the north side of the street between the rue Saint-Jacques and the rue de Cluny (now Victor-Cousin). The Massacre at Chios is now in the Louvre, Paris.
