Abstract (en)
Analysis of Quentel's recent works, which feature a single letter or number as the primary painted image, noting the influence of Jasper Johns and her use of language as a metaphor without enslaving the image. Cites Quentel as one of a number of artists, many of them women, who are struggling to insinuate meaning into art in an age dominated by post-structuralist/deconstructionist, post-modernist theory.
