Abstract (en)
Uses documents to show that one Tomasino da Vimercate, illuminator of the Porta Vercellina district of Milan, was responsible for two miniatures and five initials in the first volume of a copy of Bartolomeo Caruso's Ambrosianae which was commissioned by the Fabbrica of Milan Cathedral in 1406 and completed ca.1409 (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Museum, MS CFM 9). Through comparison of the Cambridge manuscript with a book of hours given to the Master of the Modena Hours (Modena, Biblioteca Estense, MS R.7.3), identifies the Master of the Modena Hours as Tomasino da Vimercate.
