Abstract
(en)
Draws attention to the extent to which doge Andrea Dandolo's artistic patronage represented a complement to his written history of Venice in projecting his concept of ducality. Focuses on the following projects at S. Marco (Venice): the mosaic decorations of the baptistery and the chapel of S. Isidore; the reworking, remounting, and reinstallation of the golden altarpiece of the high altar; and Dandolo's tomb in the baptistery.
