Excavations (1984-85) revealed two periods of Anglo-Saxon occupation, mid-7th c. to first quarter of the 8th c., characterized by a change from earthfast to freestanding structures. Finds included evidence of craft activities: metalwork, crucibles, moulds, objects and instruments in stone, bone, and antler.
