On Laurits Tuxen, history and portrait painter at European royal courts 1883-1913--primarily in Denmark and England. Tuxen introduced French naturalism to Denmark 1879-1905 in opposition to the painting practiced at the Royal Academy of the Fine Arts where he was a professor 1909-1916. He was a promoter of Skagens Museum where he was the chairman from 1926. The book includes a catalogue of 1,355 paintings and a list of ca.150 students.
