Abstract (en)
Excavations of henge monuments revealed graves cut into the upper levels of the pre-historic sites. Cemetery at Milfield North confirms Anglian presence in Milfield Basin from late 6th or early 7th c., and would have been related to a farming community. Milfield South is of probable later date and likely to be associated with a royal vill. Records grave goods recovered. Discusses reuse of henge monuments. Appendix lists features not attributable to henge or cemetery: 39 bowl-shaped pits containing post-medieval iron objects, brick, plaster and tile; use unclear.
