Abstract
(en)
Shows that differences in the urban plan of Venice between the Gothic period and the Renaissance are to some extent due to the solution to the problem of private water supply systems. This was due to the introduction of interior cisterns fed by drainage from the roof, replacing the open courtyard and exterior cistern, and making for a more compact urban fabric.
