Abstract (en)

Disputes the late date proposed by Corrado Fratini (Paragone, 1989, 473, p. 3-22) for the retouching in oil of the Madonna and Child painted 1260 (Orvieto, S. Maria dei Servi); argues that oil painting technique was known in the 13th c., and dates the restoration 1290-1300.
