Abstract (en)

The collection of medieval and Renaissance decorative art formed by Basilevsky in Paris 1850-1884 was bought in 1884 by Alexander III for the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. Discusses the provenance of some items in the collection, clears up a misunderstanding over the identity of the collector, and gives details of the purchase and reception of the collection.
