Abstract (en)
Considers the relationship between critical theory and women artists, especially the ways that postmodern aesthetics, adapted from French poststructural literary theory, cannot accommodate feminist artistic practice. Asserts that the critique of authorship, widely introduced into America at a moment of political significance for feminism and art, has an enormous potential for stymieing the full participation of women artists in contemporary culture.
