Study focusing on Baldinucci's life and works in the context of contemporary Florentine and, to a lesser extent, Roman culture. The reviewer notes that much of the material presented is not new; and draws attention to the value of Goldberg's reconstruction of the terms of the debate among Baldinucci, Del Migliore, and Cinelli about Florentine art history, and his account of Malvasia's relations with Baldinucci and the Florentines.
