First of a two-part article on the Marian iconography of a prayer book in two volumes (Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale, MS BR 397 and LF 22). The first volume is a psalter, illuminated by Giovannino de' Grassi between 1360 and 1395, for Gian Galeazzo Visconti.
