Abstract (en)
Discusses a group of late 15th c. Florentine illuminated manuscripts once in the collection of king Matthias Corvinus of Hungary: attributed to the scriptorium of Vespasiano da Bisticci, they were originally commissioned by an unknown Florentine humanist, represented by a coat-of-arms with a lily and a crown. Compares the decoration of two volumes of Livy's History of Rome in the Biblioteca Capitolare, Verona (MS lat. CXXXVI-CXXXVII) to that of others in the group (in various libraries), and suggests possible illuminators from the circle of Francesco di Antonio del Chierico. Favors an attribution to Bartolomeo di Domenico di Guido.
