Documents over 500 watercolors, gouaches and tempera paintings. Includes three essays: Katharina Katz on Kandinsky's handlist of colored drawings; Rudolf H. Wackernagel on tempera as a painting technique in the period ca.1900, and Kandinsky's use of the medium; Vivian E. Barnett on the relationship of Kandinsky's watercolors to his oil paintings. An addendum documents 34 paintings, 1900-1918, discovered since the publication of the catalogue raisonné of Kandinsky's oil paintings, 1900-1915 (London, 1982) by Hans K. Roethel and Jean K. Benjamin.
