Abstract
(en)
This exhibition, and the essays by Day, Wallis, Chave, and Marcus in its accompanying catalogue, examine the ways in which American art, over the past 30 years, has mirrored power relationships in American society, including those involving gender, race, and class. The exhibition presents works in a variety of media by 28 American artists, ranging from Andy Warhol to Dennis Adams; recent art is viewed in the context of precedent-setting Pop and Minimalist art of the 1960s; works are arranged into groups reflective of their approach to the theme of power.
