Abstract
(en)
Commences with thoughts on how the memoir form--especially artists' biographies and autobiographies--should be approached by historians. Then focuses on Hunt's autobiographical text (1905-1913) as a way of critically exploring self-conceptions, using them analytically as materials towards a recasting of the concept of the author/artist, and examining how the relationships between art, history and the individual life are represented in autobiographical texts.
