Notes a reaction against the grandeur of the Genoese aristocracy in the late 16th c. and contrasts the spirit of the architectural patronage of G.A. Doria, apparent in works of Andrea Ceresola (il Vannone) and Giovanni Ponzello, especially the palace and Carmelo of Loano.
