Abstract (en)

Attributes to Reder a painting of Salome with the Head of John the Baptist (Braunschweig, Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum). The picture has been given to a variety of artists since 1697. Jacoby's thesis builds on his recognition and interpretation of the CR-on-an-anchor monogram which the picture carries. Includes discussion of iconography and the influences of Martin Luther and Lucas Cranach the Elder.
