This volume serves as documentation and catalogue for Ars Electronica, an international festival for art, technology and society held in Linz, Austria. Interactive art created with the use of computer networks was the theme for the 1989 festival, and the subject of the introductory essay by the editors of the catalogue, Lischka and Weibel, as well as a separate essay by Weibel, who co-organized the festival program with Gottfried Hattinger. Features nearly 50 articles by and about the artists, projects, and issues involved in this and earlier Ars Electronica festivals. Cites the festival's computer art prize winners in the fields of animation, graphics, and music.
