Discusses a unique representation in Sweden of the Depositio drama in relief sculpture, ca.1150 (Forshem church, Västergötland). Argues that the scene, which includes the "Visitatio Sepulcri," is based on Amalarius von Metz's interpretation of the mass. Notes that earlier scholarship has regarded the reliefs as depicting either an Easter play or the Passion of Christ by misinterpreting the Deposition as a Crucifixion. Compares the reliefs with other representations of the theme in a 12th c. early Netherlandish reliquary, 11th c. Spanish reliefs, and a 12th c. Italian tympanum.
