Six major California artists from Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area were asked to choose a younger artist that they admire and feel has promise: Nathan Oliveira chose painter Lisa Zaccaglini; Robert Arneson chose sculptor Baochi Zhang; Ed Ruscha chose sculptor Greg Colson; Sam Francis chose Gregory Mahoney; Wayne Thiebaud chose painter David Hollowell; John Baldessari chose sculptor Meg Cranston.
