Abstract (en)
An account of the firm, published to accompany the exhibition, is divided into the Georgian period (Edward, John and Frederick), and the Victorians (John Gregory and John Dibblee). Both sections commence with a survey of their work followed by shorter essays on specific aspects of the period in question, including 18th c. rococo coach painting, decoration and restoration at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, taste for polychromatic decoration, A.W.N. Pugin and the Gothic style, and decoration of the International Exhibition building of 1862.
