Abstract (en)

Compares the panel of marble inlay showing the Cross, which is placed on the inner west wall above the so-called royal doors in S. Sophia, with a similar piece excavated in 1945-1946 in the area between S. Sophia and S. Irene. Argues that the image refers to the early Christian ciborium in the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
