Abstract (en)
Ramsay Garden is notable not only for its reflection of the ideology of the Arts and Crafts movement but also for the social and educational ideals (University Hall movement) which instigated its creation by Patrick Geddes in the 1890s. Architects Stewart Henbest Capper, and A.G.S. Mitchell and George Wilson designed the edifice into which they incorporated the poet Allan Ramsay's villa (ca.1734) and a terrace raised by his artist son Allan in 1768.
