Abstract (en)
On the life and work of the still life painter, active in Cologne in the second half of the 17th c. Focuses on two categories of painting: meal scenes (Mahlzeitenstilleben) and weapons displays (Rüstkammerbilder), noting the trompe-l'oeil aspect of the latter. Discusses the influence of 17th c. Dutch still life painting on Hambach's work. Presents a catalogue of 13 paintings by Hambach of which 12 are either signed or monogrammed.
