Excavations and examination of the ruined hall have produced evidence suggesting that it is a mid-16th c. building constructed with reused ecclesiastical stonework. Extensions in the 17th c., and an apparent attempt at medievalisation in the 18th c., was followed by the building's abandonment soon afterwards. Service buildings were also examined.
