Abstract (en)
Reports on the Hermitage's acquisition of a monumental version of Wtewael's well-known painting in the Los Angeles County Museum. The Hermitage picture was discovered in 1988 hanging in Leningrad's Musical Comedy Theater--the former Lazarev mansion on Great Italian Street. It is not known when the painting entered the Lazarev family collection; during the 20th c. it appears not to have left its position in the theater.
