Examines the conceptual practices and methods of institution-critique set within a museological framework, which was fostered by artists in the 1960s. Cites examples by Michael Asher, Daniel Buren, Marcel Broodthaers, and Hans Haacke. Also examines recent art works which involve the critique of museum institutions, focusing on examples by such American artists as Louise Lawler, Mark Dion, Judith Barry, and Andrea Fraser.
