Abstract (en)
Describes the pulpit in Højby church, Zealand, carved by Lorenz Jørgensen ca.1656. Finds models for a number of the motifs in woodcuts by Lucas Cranach for The Old and the New Covenant, Virgil Solis's picture Bible and the Brosamer Prayer Book of 1553. States that the pictorial program, exceptional to post-Reformation art, was influenced by a clergyman: a program referring to the sins of a man and thus a pictorial equivalent to the prevailing doctrine of repentance in 17th c. Danish theology.
