Abstract (en)
Explores the narrative strand which is, broadly speaking, that of gender, in three American works of 1985 : David Salle's Tulip Mania of Holland (Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museum of Art), analysing the disposition of the male gaze and of interpretation, contrasted with Annette Lemieux's Homecoming, and Courting Death (both art market), which are interpreted as a de-eroticization and push towards demasculinization of the gaze.
