Analysis of Andy Warhol's old Factory on East 47th St., New York City, 1960-1968, as the site of Warhol's revised notion of the Gesamtkunstwerk--redefined as site of production and recast in the mode of carnival. Discusses the notion of rupture and the representation of anatomical fragments (body-in-pieces) in relation to Warhol's films of the period, citing as seminal presences a number of works by Marcel Duchamp.
