Abstract (en)

On the architecture and decoration of the Orangerie (Galeriegebäude) of Schloss Herrenhausen, Hannover, constructed in the years 1694-98 for Ernst August, Elector of Hannover, and his wife Sophie, probably according to a design by Johann Peter Wachter. Examines in detail the iconographic program of the mural decorations, probably carried out by Tomaso Giusti and his assistants. The complex program of mythological and allegorical themes focuses on the exploits of Hercules and Aeneas.
