Documents a series of events held at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (Jan 1988-Nov 1989), including exhibitions of contemporary art drawn from the museum's collections, lectures, symposiums, forums, and panel discussions, presented under the rubric Contemporary Art in Context. Funded by a two-year grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the program aimed to increase awareness of the museum as a focus for the study and appreciation of contemporary art. Presents edited transcripts of some of these events, including talks by 16 contemporary American artists on works in the museum's collection.
